NWFSC Forensics Team Competed in the Florida State University Seminole Swing Forensics Tournament (Dec 3 & 4)

12/09/2011 — Four members from the Northwest Florida State College (NWFSC) Forensics Team accepted the challenge from eleven other college and university forensics teams. Tyler Corbin, Sarah Hawn, Megan Rambo, and Robert Smith made a very good showing against some very tough competition, especially from the more experienced university varsity teams. Tyler Corbin of Niceville was the standout performer for the NWFSC Team by taking First Place in Prose, Second Place in Dramatic Interpretation, and Fifth Place in Poetry. Blackwater Review is the college’s journal of literature and art by NWFSC students.

Fitness Center Now Open To Students

12/09/2011 — The new Fitness Center on the Niceville Campus is now available for currently enrolled students to access 24 hours a day/7 days a week.  The swipe card machines are activated and fully functional to all students who have a current/valid NWFSC RaiderCard.  The swipe card machines have been installed on the east exterior door of the classroom building (entrance that faces the A-Building) and on the door that leads into the Fitness Center.  Therefore, you will need to swipe your card twice in order to gain access to the facility.

Open Mic Night winner Albert Sousa IV

AASA Open Mic Night

11/22/2011 — Open Mic Night was a great success! Thanks to all who came out to show support to AASA and the local performers. The event was filled with many great performances of singing and poetry. The first place prize of a 3 Hour Professional Recording Session ($180 Value) at Serial Sound Studios, Ft Walton Beach, FL was given to NWFSC student Albert Sousa IV. Second place prize of a 4 Session Creative Media Class Pack ($79 value) from Sandhandle Workshops, Okaloosa C.H.O.I.C.E. Technical Center was given to local 10 year old student Jenna Renee’. Third place prize of a $25 Visa gift certificate was given to NWFSC student Patrick Rosser.

Jimmy Raider: New NWFSC Raider Official Mascot!

10/31/2011 — What’s in a nickname? Plenty if you know the history behind the Northwest Florida State College school mascot -- "Raiders." It began more than 65 years ago in a secrecy-shrouded mission on an isolated airfield in the Florida panhandle. It would culminate when a band of daring fliers dubbed "Doolittle’s Raiders" soared off the deck of the aircraft carrier USS Hornet and bombed Japan for the first time in World War II. The little-known airstrip was Eglin Field, now Eglin Air Force Base. The leader of the Raiders was then Lt. Col. Jimmy Doolittle, who led the squadron of B-25s on the daring raid -- a feat for which he was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. READ MORE…...

New RaiderCard

08/11/2010 —

Beginning Fall 2010, all College Credit students get a new RaiderCard!  
 
" The RaiderCard will replace the old Student ID cards. Old ID cards are no longer valid. 
" A $15 access charge per term will be charged to all College Credit students at the time of registration. The charge will cover fees that most schools charge separately and will entitle the student to be issued a RaiderCard.
" Students on Financial Aid must use the new RaiderCard to get books at the College Stores.  
" Non-Credit students are not required to get a RaiderCard but may purchase a RaiderCard if they want to. A $15 per semester charge will apply.
