Where and when can I take DSST exams?

All tests are taken on computer and are 90 minutes in length. DSST exams are offered for the general public at the Niceville campus only. Active duty military may test at Eglin center or Hurlburt Field.

How do I register for a DSST exam?

First, you should check with an academic advisor at the school you attend to be sure that your credits will be accepted. You may take the DSST (Dantes) exam at the Northwest Florida State College - Niceville campus. Testing is on the second floor of the Student Services Center.

Active duty military may test at the Eglin Center or Hurlburt Center.

Is there a cost for the DSST exams?

The fee for each DSST exam is $80 plus a $15 administration fee. You should proceed to the Cashier in the Student Services Center, 2nd floor, to pay the $15 administration fee. The $80 testing fee will be paid to the test proctor either by MasterCard, VISA, Discover, or American Express.

Active duty military testing at the Eglin Center or Hurlburt Center will be tested free of charge. If testing is completed at the Niceville campus, there is a $15.00 administration fee.


What do I need to bring to the DSST test?

If you are testing at the Niceville campus, two (2) forms of ID must be presented along with your payment for the test. Acceptable ID’s are Driver’s license, State/Military ID, or Current Passport. Active duty military must present their military ID card. All testing supplies will be provided. Do not bring personal items, such as purses, paper/pencils, books, bookbags, etc. Do not bring food or drinks to the testing room. Cell phones and other electronic devices are NOT allowed in the testing room.

Can I re-take a DSST exam?

A student may not repeat a DSST exam within six months of the testing date. Scores on tests repeated earlier than six months will be cancelled and the test scores forfeited.
