The Department of English/Communications offers a variety of courses that provide students an opportunity to enhance their academic experience at Northwest Florida State College.
In addition to freshman composition, the robust creative writing program encourages students to grow as writers of fiction and poetry. Overwhelming interest in the program led to the creation of The Raider Writers, a student organization that provides a place of support and fellowship for creative writers and spoken word artists at NWFSC.
The department also offers traditional introductory American literature and English literature courses as well as specialty courses, including Children's and Adolescent Literature and Contemporary Literature.
A variety of foreign language courses are offered through the department as well. Students have the opportunity to learn American Sign Language, Mandarin Chinese, French, and Spanish.
Our speech courses offer an opportunity for students to gain the necessary skills and confidence required in today's competitive job market.
For more information concerning course offerings and programs, please contact the department or stop by our office on the Niceville Campus in Building 420.
