Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education

Basic Requirements for Admission:

For Admission, please do the following:
  1. Apply to Northwest Florida State College and the BS in Early Childhood Education Program: Online Application
  2. Request transcripts from all colleges you have attended and your high school be sent to Northwest Florida State College - Office of Admission.

Earned Associate Degree:

A.A. in General Education
A.S. in Early Childhood Education or
A.A.S. in Early Childhood Education
 

Completion of Education Prerequisites:

EDF1005-Intro to the Teaching Profession
EDF2085-Intro to Diversity for Educators
EME2040-Intro to Technology for Educators
AND
Completion of 6 semester hours of coursework with an international or diversity focus, in addition to EDF 2085 - Introduction to Diversity for Educators. 
 

Completion of Early Childhood Education Prerequisites:

EEC1001-Intro to Early Child Ed (CHD2322)
EEC1309-Early Ch Foundations (CHD2432A)
EEC1601-Assessment for ECE (CHD1430)
EEC1949-Internship-ECE (CHD1941)
 

Completion of 18 hours General Education to include:

ENC1101 (English Comp I) and
One Gordon Rule Math Course
(College Algebra, Statistics, or Liberal Arts Math I or II)
 
A.S. or A.A.S. Graduates A.A. Graduates
42 Core Credits
18 Gen Ed Credits 18 ECE Credits

Foreign Language Requirement

Completion of the standard Florida foreign language upper division admission requirement.

Students may complete eight credits of foreign language before completing the program; this requirement does not stop a student from entering the program.

Steps to Apply for Admission:

If not currently enrolled, complete a NWFSC Admission & Residency Form and meet all requirements for admission to the College as a degree-seeking student.

Complete a NWFSC BS in Early Childhood Education Baccalaureate Supplemental Application Form and meet all requirements for admission to the BS in Early Childhood Education Program.

Submit official high school and college transcripts from all previously attended colleges and universities to include official score reports from CLEP, DANTES, AP, and IB.

Complete an Orientation/Advising Session.
