Discover an Exciting Career As a Dental Assistant!
You can have a career as a Dental Assistant in as little as one year. The Dental Assisting program is a one year, three-semester, full-time vocational program leading to a Certificate in Dental Assisting. The program starts in the fall semester of each calendar year and ends in August of the following year. Students attend classes or clinical rotations 3 1/2 to 4 days a week during the semester.
The program provides students with the educational background and clinical experiences necessary for competent abilities in the field of Dental Assisting. The curriculum includes content in dental radiography, expanded functions, basic dental sciences, communications, dental assisting clinical theory and practice, and practice management.
Students are prepared to take the Dental Assisting National Board examination to receive
national credentialing as a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA). They will also receive
two State of Florida certifications as a Dental Radiographer and Expanded Functions
