The Minimum Standards Fire Academy is a mentally and emotionally challenging training
program that will prepare graduates for entry-level positions with volunteer and paid
fire departments. The training consists of a combination of lecture and drills with
regular evaluation of students throughout the training.
There are no excused absences as per the requirements of the Bureau of Fire Standards and Training, and there is not any make-up time schedule. Students are required to maintain a class average of 70% in all subjects including written and practical tests. Students are limited to three (3) test failures and two (2) retests. The training covers all subjects and material specified by the State of Florida's State Fire Marshal's Office, Bureau of Fire Standards and Training.
The Firefighter I & II Minimum Standards class will meet Tuesdays through Fridays from 8:00 AM - 6:00 PM. The course will be completed in ONE semester. (The schedule is subject to change to meet training demands.)
