General Information

As of July 1, 2008, per s. 322.12(5)(a), F.S., every first-time applicant (regardless of age) for licensure to operate a motorcycle must provide proof of completion of a motorcycle safety course before the applicant may be licensed to operate a motorcycle. Riding a motorcycle without the endorsement is a criminal violation. 

 

Basic Rider Course

Motorcycle Safety Basic Rider Course is a 2 day course designed for beginning riders. The course is from 7am-4pm, each day, with a 1 hour lunch break. The Basic Rider Course consists of 16 hours of instruction including 5 hours in the classroom and 11 hours of intense riding on the parking lot range. This course will teach students how to operate a motorcycle safely and strongly emphasizes the special skills and mental attitude required for dealing with everyday riding. Participants will use bikes provided by NWF State College.

Requirements:

  • Must have at least an automobile learners license to take the BRC

  • Motorcycles and helmets (full face and 3/4) are provided, or you may bring your own DOT approved helmet

 

Students must provide proper riding attire, to include:

  • Eye Protection

  • Full Finger Gloves

  • Long Pants (preferably denim jeans)

  • Long Sleeve Shirt

  • Over Ankle Boots 

  • If it rains the day of your class, we will still ride. You may want to invest in an inexpensive two piece rain suit

 

Advanced Rider Course

Motorcycle Safety Advanced Rider/Sport Bike Course. This 8 hour course is designed for experienced motorcycle riders to complement the skills learned and experienced in previous rider courses. The course is from 7am-4pm. Special emphasis is given to self-assessment, risk management, rider behavior, riding strategies, and overall skill development, particularly in braking, cornering, and swerving procedures and techniques. This training is conducted on your own bike.
