What is an Emergency Medical Technician?

Emergency Medical Technicians are part of the Emergency Medical Services team. EMT’s are trained to provide basic life support to the sick and injured. EMT’s are often the first on-scene of emergencies and are able to provide emergency care.

I want to be a Paramedic. Do I have to go to the EMT program first?

Yes. To become a Paramedic you must first become an Emergency Medical Technician and then you may advance your knowledge and training by completing the Paramedic Program.

Does attending EMT school at Northwest Florida State College guarantee me a slot in the Paramedic Program?

Attending the EMT program at any institutional facility does not guarantee admission into the Northwest Florida State College Paramedic Program.
