A+ Certification

The A+ Certification provides an industry-wide means of certifying the competency of computer service technicians.

CompTIA A+ Certification is granted to those who have attained the level of knowledge and troubleshooting skills that are needed to provide capable support in the field of personal computers. The A+ certification is also part of the recommended level of knowledge to begin certification as Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP).

Take courses CET 2182C and CET 2179C to prepare for the A+ Essentials (220-701) exam, which covers basic computer concepts, hardware upgrading & troubleshooting, operating systems, security, safety and soft skills such as customer service and the A+ Practical application (220-702) exam, which covers repair and practical application of the concepts. Recommended level of knowledge required for these courses is provided by CET 2172C PC Servicing.

For those students without the six months experience, a recommended course is offered: CET 2172C, PC Servicing. This course introduces the PC system, how it works, and how the operating system controls it. Also studied are components of PC, troubleshooting, and system diagnostics. This course is part of the core of the Computer Engineering Technology (CET) degree.
