Northwest Florida State College recently recognized the 2008 students who successfully completed the college's vocational certificate program in Dental Assisting.

Mary Thomas, dental program coordinator, noted that the NWF State College graduates are now certified for Dental Assisting throughout the state of Florida including Radiography Certification and other expanded functions. Graduates may also take the National Board Exam in Mobile to be eligible for jobs nationwide.

Graduates include: Bonnie Bodine of Baker, Lindsay Daugette, Lindsay Duncan, and Reba Martin of Crestview; Christina Barrero, Mindy Boline, and Talisha Lewis-Wooden of Eglin AFB; Andrea Bussey, Sharon Fuller of Fort Walton Beach; Heather Harrison of Freeport; Tiffany OBrien of Navarre; Natalie Heitman of Niceville, and Allison Adams of Santa Rosa Beach.

Thomas praised local dentists for their integral role in helping to train NWF State College Dental Assisting students. "Some dentists teach for the program as well as provide their offices for clinical practicum sites for our students," she said.

Information on the application process for the next class of Dental Assisting students is available from the Dental program's office at 729-6444 or on the web at www.nwfstatecollege.edu/dental. All the college's health programs of study will hold an information session and open house for prospective students on October 14 at 5:30 pm at the college's Niceville campus, building K.
