NWFSC Film Screening: Life of Pi (2012)
03/20/2013 — The NWFSC Film Club is pleased to announce its next screening, Ang Lee’s Oscar-winning masterpiece, Life of Pi (2012), Rated PG), on Monday, April 1st in Room 328 of the Mattie Kelly Arts Center on the Niceville Campus. Life of Pi tells the story of 16-year-old Pi Patel, whose family is moving to Canada with some animals from their zoo in India. When the cargo ship they are sailing on sinks in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, Pi is stranded on a lifeboat with an orangutan, a hyena, a horse, and a Bengal tiger. But is the film just about that? Or does it question the very idea of narrative itself? Does it make us wonder why we even tell ourselves stories?
Doors will open at 6:30pm for introductions and announcements. Life of Pi will begin screening about 6:45pm, with a discussion to follow. Admission is free and there will also be door prizes and free food/drinks. Everyone is welcome, including those from the surrounding community. Please join us and bring your friends!
