SGA Candidacy Information

Welcome to Student Government Associaiton 2016-2017

Northwest Florida State College would like to challenge you to make an impact on college life at our college by becoming part of the student leadership of NWFSC. Student Government encourages you to run for office and is anxious to share with you the experience of representing the NWFSC student body. SGA meetings are held every Wednesday afternoon.

Before a student's name can be accepted for consideration as an SGA candidate, his or her eligibility must be verified. The student must also present a petition signed by at least 100 other NWFSC students (full or part-time) supporting his or her intent to hold office.

 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Students running for office of President or Vice President must maintain a 2.8 cumulative GPA or higher, have successfully completed 24 credit hours of college credit work by the end of the term in which elected, and have completed one full semester term as an elected or appointed SGA member, must be currently enrolled in at least 9 college credit hours, and must remain enrolled in 9 college credit hours during the duration of his/her term
  • All Senatorial candidates must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher and must be  currently enrolled in at least 9 college credit hours and remain enrolled in 9 college credit hours during the duration of his/her term
  • Senator-At-Large candidates must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher and must be  currently enrolled in at least 6 college credit hours and remain enrolled in 6 college credit hours during the duration of his/her term

 

All SGA officers must accept and abide by attendance mandates described in Article IV, Section four, sub-sections a and b of the NWFSC SGA Constitution.

 

Election Petition Procedure:

  • Petitions will be made available to those full or part-time students interested in holding office.
  • Prospective candidates must immediately complete the information section of the petition and return it to the Elections Committee or to the Coordinator of Student Life.
  • After checking the eligibility of prospective candidates, petitions will be returned to students eligible to hold office.
