Where and when can I take CLEP exams?

Generally, only one (1) exam can be taken per sitting unless prior arrangements are made. CLEP exams are offered for the general public at the Niceville campus only. Active duty military may test at Eglin Center or Hurlburt Field.

How do I register for a CLEP exam?

First, you should check with an academic advisor at the school you attend to be sure that your credits will be accepted. You may take the CLEP exam at the Northwest Florida State College - Niceville campus only. Testing is on the second floor of the Student Services Center.

Active duty military may test at the Eglin Center or Hurlburt Center.

Is there a cost for the CLEP exams?

The fee for each CLEP exam is $77 plus a $15 administration fee. You should proceed to the Cashier in the Student Services Center, 2nd floor, to pay the $15 administration fee. The $77 testing fee will be paid to the test proctor either by check (made out to CLEP) or by MasterCard, VISA, Discover, or American Express.

Active duty military testing at the Eglin Center or Hurlburt Center will be tested free of charge. If testing is completed at the Niceville campus, there is a $15.00 administration fee.


What do I need to bring to the CLEP test?

If you are testing at the Niceville campus, two (2) forms of ID must be presented along with your payment for the test. Acceptable ID’s are Driver’s license, State/Military ID, or Current Passport, plus Student/Employee photo ID, Credit card w/photo or Social Security Card. Active duty military must present their military ID card. All testing supplies will be provided. Please avoid bringing personal items, such as purses, paper/pencils, books, bookbags, etc. Do not bring food or drinks to the testing room. Cell phones, food, and drinks are NOT allowed in the testing room.


How can I prepare for a CLEP exam?

Study guides for CLEP exams are available at www.collegeboard.com/CLEP or you can purchase study guides at most retail bookstores, such as Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, etc.


Can I re-take a CLEP exam?

A student may not repeat a CLEP exam within six months of the testing date. Scores on tests repeated earlier than six months will be cancelled and the test scores forfeited.
