Drafting & Design Technology – Technical Illustration Option

The Drafting and Design Technology program prepares graduates for employment in the field of engineering with engineering firms, manufacturing companies, electro-mechanical companies, and contract firms. Students are employed as CAD drafters, CAD technicians, 3D modelers, engineering technicians and various other positions. In this program, you will gain technical and creative knowledge and experience with 3D modeling and 3D Printing. Student will use various software, including AutoCAD, Inventor and Solid Works. Students interested in this program should enjoy the challenges of working with various CAD packages in the construction complex 3D models and assemblies, 2D geometry, as well as the documentation of technical work.

Employment of drafters is projected to grow 7 percent from 2016 to 2026, about as fast as the average for all occupations.
