Florida College System
More than 1 million students enroll in Florida's 28 public state and community colleges every year -- a system which ranks in the top ten nationwide for colleges awarding associate degrees. The Florida College System is part of the Florida Department of Education.
Florida's state and community colleges are the primary point of access to higher education in Florida, with 66 percent of the state's high school graduates pursuing postsecondary education beginning at a Florida college and 81 percent of freshman and sophomore minority students in public higher education attending one of Florida's 28 colleges.
Alumni of Florida's 28 community colleges comprise more than 62 percent of the juniors and seniors at the state's 11 public universities. See the Florida College System website for additional information.
