Northwest Florida State College operates a joint campus with the University of West Florida. A significant advantage to students, is the 2 + 2 program pioneered with the UWF. Students may obtain a baccalaureate or advanced degree by pursuing their first 2 years of course work with NWF State College and final years with UWF at the joint Fort Walton Beach campus or the Eglin and Hurlburt Centers.
NWF State College operates the regional Criminal Justice Training Center, with programs in Law Enforcement and Corrections to prepare individuals for state certification.
The college's Advanced Technology & Design programs, located on the Niceville campus, offers Drafting and Design (CAD/CAM), Computer Engineering, Computer Graphics and other majors. The department is also a state Center of Electronic Emphasis, certified by the National Association of Radar and Telecommunications Engineers (N.A.R.T.E.), and administers exams for the FCC general class licensing.
Northwest Florida State College tuition and fees are currently the lowest in the state of Florida of any public or private college or university.
Northwest Florida State College students who transfer to state universities consistently earn among the highest grade point averages in the state on university course work when compared to students from the other 27 community colleges.
82% of the last year's graduating class received some form of financial assistance to attend Northwest Florida State College. More than $8 million dollars was awarded to Northwest Florida State College students in the form of grants, scholarships, loans or other aid.
Northwest Florida State College operates one of the few programs in Florida for issuing the Child Development Credential which certifies child care workers. Northwest Florida State College's Child Development and Education Center, located on the Niceville campus, provides care for children ages 2-5 of students and staff. Children from the community are accepted on a space available basis.
The Mattie Kelly Arts Center at Northwest Florida State College is a $25 million instructional and performing arts facility which features a 1,650 seat main theater and accommodates an annual series of traveling Broadway shows, a 195-seat flexible theater, an art wing with two galleries, a music wing, a 24 track recording studio and instructional facilities for students of the visual, musical and theatrical arts.
