Deborah Fontaine, Ph.D., Texas Tech University, serves as Professor of English and Chair of the English/Communications and Social Science Departments. Dr. Fontaine has a diverse background with a bachelor’s degree in social science education, a master’s of education in secondary education administration, a master’s of arts in American literature, and a doctorate in technical communication and rhetoric. Dr. Fontaine teaches writing courses, from developmental and freshman composition to technical communication. She enjoys interacting with students in traditional and online formats, encouraging an awareness and appreciation of writing across the disciplines and into the workplace. Her research interests include composition and technical communication pedagogy, writing program development, transfer theory, writing assessment, and data and text mining.
