NWF State College Offers Firearms Safety & Concealed Carry Courses
Northwest Florida State College's Criminal Justice Department is offering four more sessions of its popular Firearms Safety and Concealed Carry Course this fall term. Each non-credit course is eight hours in length and includes classroom discussion on current legal issues related to firearms safety and gun possession in Florida as well as live fire practice at the college's Firearms Training Facility on the Niceville campus. The class is $156 and includes the use of college firearms (personal firearms are not permitted in the class or on campus), and college supplied ammunition and eye/ear protection. The course is open to members of the general public including those under age 18 if accompanied by a parent or guardian who also enrolls in the safety course. Certain restrictions apply. Successful completion of the course satisfies state requirements for a firearms safety course and may be used as part an individual's application through the state for a concealed carry permit.
The four session dates offered include three one-day sessions on August 11, October 26, and November 17 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There is also a two-day session available September 12 from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. (classroom portion) and September 14 from 8:00 a.m. until 12 noon (gun range portion). Registration is now being accepted for all session dates. Individuals who are current or previous NWFSC students may enroll for the non-credit workshop on-line through the college's RaiderNet web registration system. New students should enroll in-person at any of the college's seven area locations. Register for course number XVS 6001, Firearms Safety and Concealed Carry Course.
