It is the policy of NWF State College that all students and employees of NWF State College campuses are to report criminal acts and safety hazards or occurrences known to them. The proper reporting procedure is to contact the NWF State College Police Department, (850) 729-6888.

Safety and Closure Notification

NWF State College employs a variety of methods to inform students and staff regarding safety or closure notices, such as storm-related/hurricane closures. Depending on the situation, some or all of the notification methods below may be used including:

NWF State College Alert

The NWF State College Alert system reaches students and staff with emergency information and updates through automatic phone calls, and/or text messages issued by the college. Students are responsible to maintain their most current contact information in their NWF State College  file.

All campus e-mail

Messages are sent to all student & employee college e-mail addresses. Students should always check their email accounts daily for any updates, especially in an emergency situation.

Recorded Emergency Line Phone Message

The following number will be used for recorded messages regarding closure or emergency (850) 729-6822.  This number is only activated during incidents in which the emergency action plan is enacted.

Campus Main Phone Message

Recorded messages may be posted to the main campus number (850) 678-5111

Campus Intercom

A campus live-voice message system which issues voice messages through the campus fire alarm system may be utilized. Listen carefully and immediately follow all live-voice messages issued through this method.

Posted Static Messages

May be placed on campus signs, marquees, or additional signage on campus may be utilized.

Special news alerts may be placed on the college’s home page.

Area Media Outlets

If warranted, closure or emergency notices are issued to various local media (radio/TV/Newspaper).

Crime Statistics

Annually updated campus crime statistics can be found in the College Catalog indexed under “Crime, Summary of Reported Campus Crimes” or go to the US Department of Education’s Campus Safety and Security website. In all instances of criminal occurrence, loss of property, assault, threat, injury, or attempted crime, the Physical Plant Department must be contacted as soon as possible in order to facilitate proper reporting and resource utilization and to record the occurrence for further study and preventive action.
