31st Annual Math Bowl at NWF Winners Announced

NICEVILLE, FL– High school teams from all across Northwest Florida competed in the 31st annual Math Bowl at Northwest Florida State College on Friday, March 2. This year’s event was made possible through a partnership with the Air Force Research Laboratory of Eglin Air Force Base.

“It is a great privilege to once again host our annual Math Bowl,” said Dr. Devin Stephenson, President.  “Through this unique event, some of the brightest young mathematical minds within the Northwest Florida community are able to see the student-focused campus culture we strive for here at NWF State College.”

After a daylong competition consisting of written exams and ciphering matches, an awards ceremony was held for the event’s team and individual winners.

Team winners

Class X – 1st: Seacoast, 2nd: South Walton, 3rd: Chipley

Class Y – 1st: Collegiate High School at NWF State College, 2nd: Gulf Breeze, 3rd: Rutherford

Class Z – 1st: Lincoln, 2nd: Rickards, 3rd: Chiles

Individual winners

Class X – 1st: Jeremy Fazio (Seacoast), 2nd: Jamison York (Chipley), 3rd: Gregory Garrett (South Walton)

Class Y – 1st: Ally Keen (Collegiate High), 2nd: Kasey Rigby (Collegiate High), Teertho Bhattacharya (Collegiate High)

Class Z – 1st: Graham O’Donnell (Lincoln), 2nd: Brandon Chyi (Chiles), 3rd: Joshua Kim (Rickards)

In addition to trophies for individual and team winners, the highest scoring student from each class was awarded with a gift card. Jeremy Fazio (Seacoast) from Class X and Ally Keen (Collegiate High) from Class Y both received a $50 gift card. Graham O’Donnell (Lincoln) from Class Z was awarded with a $100 gift card.
