Northwest Florida State College Holds 33rd Annual Math Bowl

NICEVILLE, FL – High school teams from all across Northwest Florida competed in the 33rd annual Math Bowl at Northwest Florida State College on Friday, March 6. This year’s event was made possible through a partnership with Team Eglin.

“Northwest Florida State College is proud to once again host the annual Math Bowl for our area high schools,” said NWFSC President Dr. Devin Stephenson. “Exposure to STEM education is vital for today’s students, and we aim to do our part in supporting the science and mathematics fields.”

After a daylong competition consisting of written exams and ciphering matches, an awards ceremony was held for the event’s team and individual winners.

Team winners

Class X – 1st: South Walton, 2nd: Maclay, 3rd: Seacoast

Class Y – 1st: Pensacola High, 2nd: Collegiate High School at NWF State College, 3rd: Pensacola Catholic

Class Z – 1st: Rickards, 2nd: Lincoln, 3rd: Niceville

Individual winners

Class X – 1st: Simon Corpuz (Maclay), 2nd: Sonu Patel (Maclay), 3rd: Fisher Marks (South Walton)

Class Y – 1st: Mai Tran (Pensacola High), 2nd: Kendall Frazee (Pensacola High), Tri Truong (Pensacola Catholic)

Class Z – 1st: Karthik Vedula (Rickards), 2nd: Dylan Epstein-Gross (Rickards), 3rd: Rayyan Darji (Rickards)

In addition to trophies for individual and team winners, NWF State College Mathematics handed out graphing calculators, gaming headsets and gift cards as part of raffles and competition prizes.
