NWF State College Students Excel at SkillsUSA State Competition

NICEVILLE, FL– NWF State College students brought home a number of accolades from the SkillsUSA State Conference held in Pensacola on April 30 – May 1, 2018.

The following students placed:

Audio Production

  • 1st Place Team—Matthew Hall (Santa Rosa Beach) and Samuel McClead (Fort Walton Beach)

Career Pathways-Health Services

  • 1st Place Team—Megan Campbell (Fort Walton Beach), Ashley Peterson (Niceville) and Hailey Roach (Mary Esther)

Career Pathways-Human Services

  • 1st Place Team—Kaitlyn Crawford (Crestview), Kayla Greene (Niceville) and Jamie Oldacre (Crestview)

Career Pathways-STEM

  • 1st Place Team—Tracy Hedtkamp (Fort Walton Beach), Meggie Marut (Fort Walton Beach) and Emma Michenfelder (Fort Walton Beach)

Knowledge Bowl

  • 1st Place Team—Ryan Adams (Mary Esther), Matt Gregory (Fort Walton Beach), Taylor Nelson (Niceville) and Donovan Robertson (DeFuniak Springs)

Dental Assisting

  • 1st Place—Amber Norton (Fort Walton Beach)
  • 2nd Place—Volha Franskevich (Miramar Beach)

Early Childhood Education

  • 2nd Place—Katelyn King (DeFuniak Springs)

SkillsUSA is an educational partnership that provides students, teachers and other professionals with the tools needed to excel in the workforce.  Each year, SkillsUSA puts on several competitions at the local, regional, state and national levels to test the skillset of students who are preparing to begin their careers.

All NWF students that placed first in their category at the state level are invited to compete at the National Leadership and Skills Conference in Louisville, Kentucky on June 25-29, 2018.
