Northwest Florida State College Selects Michael Erny as Dean of Career Education

NICEVILLE, FL– Northwest Florida State College is pleased to announce the addition of Michael Erny as the new Dean of Career Education. Mr. Erny comes to NWF State College with more than three decades of career and technical education experience. He most recently served as Dean for the School of Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering and Applied Science at Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana/Kokomo Service Area, which includes campuses in Kokomo, Logansport, Rochester and Peru.
“We are thrilled with the addition of Michael Erny as the new leader of our Career Education division at NWF State College,” said Dr. Devin Stephenson, President. “His vast knowledge in the field of advanced manufacturing is sure to be a tremendous asset to our institution and will be instrumental in helping develop the workforce and talent pipelines within Northwest Florida.”
During his 12-year tenure at Ivy Tech Community College, Erny has held several leadership positions, including Program Chair of Automotive and Diesel Technology, Statewide Lead Curriculum Chair for Automotive and Diesel Technologies, and Department Chair and Assistant Dean for School of Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering, and Applied Science.
Erny holds an Associate of Applied Science in Automotive Service Technology from Ivy Tech Vocational College, both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in Career and Technical Education from Indiana State University and is currently a doctoral candidate within the Doctor of Education program at the University of Wisconsin-Stout with an expected May 2019 graduation date.
“I am very excited to be joining the Northwest Florida State College family and working with a great faculty and staff,” said Erny. “I am excited to start working with local business and industry to develop partnerships and programs to support business and industry needs. Preparing students to be successful with their life goals is important to me. This includes linking student goals to industry needs to support our communities.”
