Associate in Arts

The Associate in Arts (AA) degree is designed for students who plan to pursue a bachelor’s degree; an NWF State College associate’s degree provides the first 2 years. We offer a great education at a reasonable cost; our students graduate with minimal or no student debt.

Northwest Florida State College offers eight meta-majors for students to choose from: Arts, Humanities, Communication, and Design; Business; Education; Health Sciences; Industry/Manufacturing and Construction; Public Safety; STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math); and Social and Behavior Sciences & Human Services. Within each meta-major are degree concentrations which allow students to tailor their academic experience toward their ultimate higher-level major. Northwest Florida State College is pleased to offer many of these programs online, including prerequisite courses for most transfer majors.

(Individual course requirements at specific institutions are published in State-wide Common Course Prerequisite Manual. Northwest Florida State College recommends that students see an academic advisor and contact their transfer institution to confirm program requirements.)

Career Outlook*

Students completing the AA at NWF State College are guaranteed acceptance at any Florida state university. In addition, the General Education portion of any bachelor’s degree at any state university or other state college will be met by the student’s General Education in the completed AA; no additional coursework will be necessary. This is a great advantage to completing the AA at NWF! Lastly, university data show that students transferring with an AA are much more likely to complete their bachelor’s degrees than those who transfer from a state college without completing the AA. So start here and succeed!
