Schedule, Holidays, and Leave

The College is closed on many federal and state holidays. Review the Academic Calendar for the complete list. The College also has extended closures for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring Break. The College also offers four-day workweek to many departments.

The College offers generous paid vacation and sick leave; some types of paid leave are dependent on the position you hold at the College. All full-time employees accrue eight hours of sick leave each month, thirty-two hours of which may be used for any reason annually. The College’s sick leave includes a Sick Leave Pool for eligible employees. Additionally, full-time non-instructional employees earn eight hours of vacation leave for each month of service, which increases when employees achieve long-term years of service.

Tuition Assistance

Each semester, full-time employees, as well as their spouses and dependents are eligible for six semester hours or equivalent tuition for credit-bearing courses offered at NWFSC. Spouse and dependent status are verified through Human Resources. These courses must either apply to a program of study at NWFSC or at a regionally accredited institution or enhance job skills.

Staff & Program Development

The College annually budgets for Staff & Program Development for two purposes: allowing employees to enroll in courses offered by any regionally accredited institution or to attend online or in-person conferences, webinars, or other professional development events

Use of Facilities

College employees have free access to the College gym on the Niceville Campus.

Cultural Events

All employees are invited to Raider Athletics games and Mattie Kelly Arts Center events. Employees receive free tickets to many events.
